Agricultural honor society wins top chapter award
TUSKEGEE, Ala. (December 9, 2013) – Tuskegee’s chapter of the Honor Society of Agriculture, Gamma Sigma Delta, has been recognized for excellent performance. During a reception Sunday in the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center, chapter members received the 2012-2013 Outstanding Chapter Award from Mike Brugger, the international organization’s interim secretary.
The university’s chapter competed against Gamma Sigma Delta organizations at about 50 other institutions. To be considered, the chapter had to have activities throughout the year tailored to scholarships, community service, education and research.
The award presentation was made during kick off events for the Professional Agricultural Workers Conference, which ends on Tuesday. The Tuskegee chapter has been past recipients of silver and gold awards as well as three awards for outstanding programs.
“We have never won [for outstanding chapter] so this is really wonderful,” said Marceline Egnin, 2012-2013 president.
In addition to being the society’s outstanding chapter, Brugger also presented a plaque for Most Improved Chapter.
“You guys are keeping the competition stiff for the other 50 some chapters,” Brugger said.
