Cast of new Animal Planet series encourages next generation of Tuskegee University veterinarians

Vet student asks question.

TUSKEGEE, Ala. (June 2, 2016) — The Tuskegee University grads featured in Animal Planet’s “The Vet Life” made a virtual return to their alma mater today to show their appreciation and to encourage students. During an on-campus preview, the community got an early look at the new reality show about alumni and veterinarians Drs. Diarra Blue, Aubrey Ross and Michael Lavigne.

Before and after the viewing, the doctors did a Q&A via Skype and shared several words of wisdom with faculty and students from the College of Veterinary Medicine. Their advice to aspiring veterinarians covered a multitude of topics, from helpful textbooks to having the proper mental attitude.

“Believe in yourself. Believe in your heart that you can make it. Go out there and rock,” Ross said.

All three doctors were very appreciative of the education and training they received from Tuskegee and thanked their professors that were in the audience. They praised the program for helping them be career-ready and able to handle a multitude of medical problems that they see in their practice.

“We shine around this world and don’t let anyone tell you different,” Blue said of Tuskegee-trained veterinarians. “You made a solid decision in life.”

Animal Planet will premiere “The Vet Life” show Saturday at 10 p.m. EST/9 p.m. CST. To see it online, click here
