TUSKEGEE, Ala. (March 20, 2013) — More than 200 university and community participants gathered at Logan Hall today for the annual Tuskegee University Health Fair. Coordinated by Student Health Services, the event offered free health screenings for cholesterol, blood pressure, glucose, sickle cell anemia and HIV. There were also exercise demonstrations and information booths promoting healthy lifestyles. Dr. June Samuels, director of Student Health Services, said this is one of the department’s largest annual activities and addresses the dual side of health maintenance by offering screenings and accompanying preventive information.

“Health education is basically about creating healthy environments for students,”Samuels said. “If [students] are not well, they cannot function at optimum levels.”
