Outstanding students recognized, share tips for success

TUSKEGEE, Ala. (April 26, 2013) — Gilbert L. Rochon, Tuskegee University president, was named an honorary member of Gamma Sigma Delta during an induction ceremony today. During a luncheon in the ballroom of the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center at Tuskegee University, Rochon was made a member of the honor society of agriculture. According to the program’s history, the society has been on campus since 1985 and “encourages high standards of scholarship and worthy achievements in all branches of agricultural and related sciences as well as a high degree of excellence in the practices of agricultural pursuits.”

Several new student, faculty and staff members were also inducted including five visiting faculty from Senegal. New officers were also installed during the ceremony. In remarks, Rochon emphasized the continued importance of agricultural research in today’s globalized society and highlighted the work the university is engaged in, here and abroad.

“I am delighted to be here at this institution that has such a rich history in agricultural activities,” Rochon said.
