Tuskegee to celebrate annual Faith Week

TUSKEGEE, Alabama (January 16, 2013) — The Tuskegee University community will celebrate the importance of devotion and spirituality during annual Faith Week events, Jan. 20-27. Several speakers will address the university and local audience in the University Chapel during a week that includes events to honor the lives of George Washington Carver and Martin Luther King, Jr.
Fred D. Gray, civil rights attorney and activist, will speak at Tuskegee’s annual Martin Luther King Holiday Observance, Jan. 21. Gray is best known for working with King and Rosa Parks during the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
There will be a George Washington Carver Convocation on Jan. 25. Later, the Tuskegee University Golden Voices Choir will hold a concert.
Also, there will be guest speakers for two All University Worship services. James Earl Massey, dean emeritus of the Tuskegee University Chapel, will kick off Faith Week on Jan. 20. Cheryl A. Kirk-Duggan, professor of theology and ethics at Shaw University Divinity School, will conclude the week Jan. 27.
