Tuskegee University awarded $100,000 food safety grant by USDA
TUSKEGEE, Ala. (December 8, 2011) — The U.S. Department of Agriculture has awarded $100,000 to Tuskegee University for food safety research. In an announcement on Wednesday, the agency said it has given 17 grants, totaling $10.4 million, to universities in 13 states. Tuskegee was the only university in Alabama to receive a grant. The grants are part of the National Integrated Food Safety Initiative, which deals with food safety issues including farm production, processing, distribution and preparation.
