Vice president to speak at national empowerment forum
TUSKEGEE, Ala. (February 6, 2014) – Dr. Cynthia Sellers-Simon, vice president for student affairs and enrollment management, has been invited as a featured panelist at the Women of Color Empowerment Forum during the 60th Annual National Association of Student Affairs Professionals Conference. The event will be held Feb. 20-23 in Savannah, Ga.
Founded in 1954, the association is a professional development organization that aims to support student affairs personnel and address trends and solutions related to student issues. Sellers-Simon is a past president of the organization.
The forum at this year’s conference is an opportunity for leaders in the profession to share their stories of success and career choices to help other women advance their careers to the next level.
“I look forward to discussing the importance of the power of self-improvement and the need to increase positive self-images among women,” Sellers-Simon said.
“When women are empowered, they are able to determine their priorities and where their time needs to be focused. Being empowered also assists in developing confidence. I commend the National Association of Student Affairs Professionals for making the Women of Color Empowerment Forum one of the highlights of the national conference and I am delighted to be a member of the panel.”
