Tuskegee, AL – (November 19, 2009) – Three Tuskegee Golden Tigers have been selected to play in the inaugural Russell Athletic HBCU Senior Bowl, scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 19 at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Ala. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
All players participating will be draft eligible seniors who have exhausted their college football eligibility. The Russell Athletic HBCU Bowl Selection Committee will evaluate game film, review statistics, coaches' recommendations and acquire information from professional scouts as they put together the best talent in HBCU football.
Justin Hannah, All-SIAC cornerback; Brandon Anderson, defensive lineman; and Jeremy Obie, free safety, will team up with other Southern Intercollegiate Conference (SIAC) and Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) players to face senior players from the Mideastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) and the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). The game will be played with an East vs. West format. The East team is comprised of the SIAC and SWAC conference players with the West team comprised of the MEAC and CIAA players.
Hannah, a Birmingham, Ala., native, has recorded 38 tackles (24 solos), broken up five passes and intercepted three passes for 71 yards. He has 18 career pass interceptions.
Anderson has tallied 32 tackles (18 solos), recorded 11 tackles for 52 yards in losses and made 6.5 quarterback sacks for 39 yards. The Toxey, Ala., native has two fumble recoveries for 15 yards and one forced fumble.
Obie hails from High Point, N.C. and he has recorded 19 tackles (12 solos), three interceptions for 58 yards, three pass breakups, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.
The Golden Tigers, 2009 SIAC champions, will finish the playing season after meeting Elizabeth City State in Pioneer Bowl XI in Columbia, S.C. on Dec. 5 and Alabama State in the 86th Annual Turkey Day Football Classic on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26 at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Ala.
The 2009 SIAC crown marks the fourth consecutive conference title and the 28th overall for the Golden Tigers, America's winningest HBCU football team.
