AREAS OF INTEREST
Research interests include sustainable resource management and environmental protection using emerging technologies, enhancement of biodiversity, integrated Pest Management (IPM) research and policy, international agricultural development and the use of alternatives to pesticides in limited resource agriculture. General interests: Networking for research and education as a platform for empowerment and self-reliance in the agricultural sector, capacity building, and research management.

CAREER IMPACTS AND INNOVATIONS
Trained and mentored many emerging leaders of the future technological and political community; provided a basis for the enhancement of livelihood to many farmers in the developing world and among the small farmers in the Black Belt through work in IPM in all its facets. Current research on the coupling of two entomological techniques to detect unsafe pesticide residues on fruit and vegetables is an approach that has never before been attempted; the project on risk genetic variability and the assessment of the sweetpotato weevil and use of GIS to forecast likely spread of the weevil will provide a novel approach in the determination of quarantines of invasive pests.
