Vice President for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management
Dr. Cynthia Daniels Sellers, a native of Elba, Alabama, is the Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at Tuskegee University. Prior to her position at Tuskegee, she held other positions at higher education institutions including the following: Executive Assistant to the President and Assistant Professor at Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia; and Assistant to the President and Vice President for Student Affairs at Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia. Other positions held at Fort Valley State University include Director of the Counseling and Career Development Center, and Counselor in the Counseling Center. She also served as Counselor in the Special Services Program at Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama prior to accepting employment at Fort Valley State University.
Dr. Sellers received both the Bachelor of Science degree in Social Studies Education with a minor in Spanish and the Master of Education degree in Student Personnel Services in Higher Education with a concentration in Counseling from Tuskegee University. She received the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Higher Education Administration with a concentration in Management from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Sellers also completed post-doctoral work at Harvard University in their Institute for Higher Education Management Development Program and at Oxford University in England. She was licensed as a professional counselor in the State of Georgia and has participated in several executive leadership training and professional development programs including the Kellogg/NAFEO Leadership Fellows Program; Hampton University Executive Leadership Summit; Nissan-ETS HBCU Summer Institute Fellows Program; and the Millennium Leadership Institute Fellows Program sponsored by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. Also, Dr. Sellers enhanced her professional development by participating in international seminars for faculty/administrators in Africa (Senegal, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, CapeTown, Johannesburg, and Pretoria); Brazil (Sao Paulo, Rio Jenerioa and Bahia); and England (Oxford and London).
She holds memberships and is active in numerous professional organizations. Additionally, she has served in numerous leadership roles in several professional organizations including President, National Association of Student Affairs Professionals (NASAP); Chair, Council of Past Presidents, NASAP; Nomination Chair, NASAP; Editorial Board, NASAP Journal; President, Georgia College Student Affairs Association; Treasurer, Georgia College Student Affairs Association; Vice President, NAFEO Institute for Chief Student Affairs Officers; Executive Council, American College Counseling Association; Secretary, American College Counseling Association; Governing Council, American Counseling Association; and Georgia Composite Licensure Board of Professional Counselors, a ten year appointment made by the Governor of Georgia.
Dr. Sellers is the recipient of numerous honors and awards. Additionally, she has made several presentations at local, state and national professional conferences; served as the keynote speaker for several local community and national organizations; and has written several articles that were published in professional journals and newsletters.
Dr. Sellers is active in the community and serves as a member of several civic and social organizations including the Tuskegee Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., The Tuskegee Chapter of The Links, Inc., Tuskegee Civitan Club, Tuskegee Optimist Club, Tuskegee YMCA Board of Directors; NAACP, Washington Chapel A.M.E. Church, the local Tuskegee Alumni Club and the Tuskegee National Alumni Association.
She is the proud mother of two daughters, Latasha Sellers Williams, M.D, and Kettisha Sellers Wimes; grandmother of four (Javian Wimes, Kaylah Wimes, Joshua Williams and Jordan Williams); and mother-in-law of two (Jason Williams, M.D. and Jason Wimes).
