Research Assistant Professor or Visiting Scientist
College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and College of Engineering and Physical Sciences
Responsibilities:
This position will be jointly appointed to the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and the Department of Chemical Engineering in the respective Colleges of College of Agricultural, Environmental and Natural Sciences and College of Engineering and Physical Sciences.
The selected faculty member will develop research and education programs in:
- Climate and Climate Change
- Impact of Climate on Food and Agricultural Production,
- Impact of Climate on Natural Ecosystems and Neighboring Communities
- Meteorological hazards and disasters
- Disaster Risk Reduction
- Real time Remote Sensing for Early Warning and Mitigation of Disasters and Epidemics,
- Weather Forecast Models and Analysis
- Global Earth Operating Systems
- Development of Visualization tools to explore weather as it evolves
The selected faculty member will work in an interdisciplinary and integrative manner with teams to develop best management and economically viable practices that enhance productivity and quality of life for farmers and communities in Alabama, the U.S. and in other countries, including a focus on small, socially disadvantaged farmers and rural communities.
In concert with others the selected faculty member will develop and teach courses that strengthen current and future science, technology, engineering agriculture and technology (STEAM) programs at Tuskegee University
Qualifications
PhD in Agricultural and Environmental Engineering or related field
Experience in Meteorology, climatology and remote sensing
Experience and willingness to work in an integrative and interdisciplinary manner with other scientists and engineer
Desire to work with and mentor underrepresented minorities in a multi-cultural environment
Record of peer reviewed publications relevant to the position
