Chief of Staff 

Shamima Amin was appointed chief of staff by the 6th president of Tuskegee University, Gilbert L. Rochon.

Amin has more than 15 years of executive level experience covering all aspects of administration including: strategic planning, budgeting, operations management, personnel training, supervision, and technology implementation. She has held several faculty positions including: instructor at the University of Florida and associate professor; director of library, distance learning, archives and media center; and head of technical services at Savannah State University in Savannah, Ga. She has also served as vice president for academic library services at Sunrise International, Inc.

Amin was the driving force behind Savannah State University Library’s automation process. She was closely involved in developing Georgia’s statewide premier and nationally recognized digital library, Georgia Library Learning Online (GALILEO). She was also instrumental in establishing a New York-based Foundation Center branch at Savannah State to help the university and the local community to secure grants.

She currently is the chief coordinator of the Opportunity Funding Corporation’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship conference. This nationally renowned higher education event has served as a catalyst to spur entrepreneurship programs at Historically Black Colleges and Universities across America. Drawing on Amin’s management prowess, OFC Innovation and Entrepreneurship has grown consistently year-to-year and has emerged as a nexus of activity and networking for university presidents, faculty members, business leaders, and students alike.

Amin received her master’s degree in information and library science from Atlanta University in 1988. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh. She has also attended the University of Florida and Harvard University for educational and leadership training.

She also has extensive experience working with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and other accreditation agencies. Amin has served on numerous professional committees and non-profit boards such as America's Food Bank of Coastal Georgia and the Better Business Bureau.

Amin also has excelled at developing and sustaining effective relationships with students, faculty and administrators of diverse backgrounds. She has traveled to over 25 countries on six continents and is fluent in Bengali, French, and German. She has been included in Marquis’ Who’s Who in the South and Southwest (26th ed.), International Who’s Who of Professional Management and Who’s Who in America (Millennium ed.).
