Position: Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Social Work
Location: College of Arts and Sciences
General Information: The College of Arts and Sciences seeks an Assistant Professor of Social Work to begin August 1, 20113 (fall semester).
Incumbent responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate social work level, proposal submission to external agencies, and scholarly productivity. Candidates are expected to teach in all areas across the curriculum with an emphasis on diversity and instructing students how to provide services for marginal as well as highly skilled populations.
Additional responsibilities include:
Student advising, participating in departmental and university-wide and community activities, participating in BSW curriculum development. Candidates are expected to contribute to the University’s academic mission as reflected in the university’s commitment to diversity and global perspectives.
Candidates must possess a doctorate in social work, a master's degree in social work from a CSWE. accredited university (or international equivalent), and at least two years of post-master’s direct practice experience. ABDs with a definite completion date will be considered. Prior teaching experience in social work or a related field is required; experience in a CSWE. accredited social work program (or international equivalent) is preferred.
Candidates should submit: (a) a letter of interest outlining qualifications for the position, including interests in social work research, teaching areas, and areas of service and/or leadership; (b) a statement of teaching philosophy; (c) a curriculum vitae; (d) a copy of graduate transcripts; (e) three letters of reference which comment on teaching, scholarship, service and/or leadership.
Finalists must successfully complete the on-campus interview process and teaching demonstration.
