The Financial/Operational Auditor will evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of the University’s internal controls.  The Auditor will be responsible for performing audit assignments in accordance with The Institute of Internal Auditors’ Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and Code of Ethics, Internal Audit policies and procedures and applicable regulations.  Assignments will include, but not be limited to, conducting financial, operational and compliance audits and providing assistance during internal investigations.

Essential Duties

  • Assist with planning audits, including preparing audit programs and tests
  • Independently perform audit procedures, including interviews, tests of internal controls and compliance with regulations, policies, procedures and standards
  • Analyze audit evidence and evaluate adequacy of controls
  • Organize work papers and document research to support conclusions
  • Prepare audit observations, recommendations for improvement and audit reports

Other Responsibilities

  • Perform other related duties as assigned


  • College graduate with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related discipline
  • At least 3 years of job related experience in finance or accounting that is required to perform the assigned duties
  • Strong analytical skills and inquisitive
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to develop and maintain productive customer and staff relationships
  • Excellent time management skill, possess the ability to manage several assignments simultaneously
  • Proficiency in computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel. ACL experience a plus
  • Ability to work overtime and attend on-going training to enhance auditing skills and knowledge of higher education
  • Provide excellent customer service in a courteous manner
  • Must be a team player
  • Ability to work independently and execute research
  • Ability to apply various auditing methods, concepts and tools

Additional Desirable Qualifications

  • 3 or more years of auditing experience, higher education experience a plus
  • CPA or CIA certification preferred
