Position: Post-Doctoral Research Associate
Location: CVMNAH/Department of Pathobiology
(This is a temporary position)
: Incumbent will conduct research in the general field of fish microbiology, molecular biology and immunology related to aquatic animal health
: Specifically conduct research to develop multiple detection methods for fish pathogens in water and fish samples through bacteria identification and/or molecular responses of fish
: Should be skilled to perform bacterial cultures, genomic DNA extraction, PCR cloning, ligation, transformation, RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, quantitative PCR, API biochemical analysis of bacteria, microbiological analysis of fatty acid methylesters through MIDI microbial identification system, and ELISA
: Perform other experiments as assigned by major professor/advisor
: Perform the appropriate record keeping and filling of laboratory activities using conventional and computerized methods
: Collect scientific information, e.g. literature searching etc.
: Perform other related duties as assigned
: Position requires DVM, MS or PhD in Agricultural Life Sciences or microbiology
: Candidate should have experience in microbiology, molecular biology and immunology or in related field
: Experience in research of cultured fish, fish pathogenesis, fish pathogen detection using biochemical, microbiological and immunological methods are desirable
: The position is funded by National Institute of Food and Agriculture; USDA will end on August 31, 2014
: Candidate must be legally eligible to work in the USA.
