Dr. Vera King Farris

Dr. Vera King Farris, ('59), is the first African-American president of a New Jersey public college--Richard Stockton College. She is also the first African American named to the Board of Directors of Flagstar Corporation, the parent company of Denny's Corporation. Dr. Ferris has held administrative and teaching positions at the State University of New York at Stoney Brook and Brockport, Kean College of New Jersey, and the University of Michigan. Executive Women of New Jersey named her New Jersey Policymaker of the Year in 1994, and she received New Jersey Woman of the Year honors in 1992. Dr. Farris holds seven honorary doctorate degrees.
