Tuskegee University president, Gilbert L. Rochon, announced the appointment of Walter A. Hill as vice provost and dean of the College of Agriculture, Environment and Nutrition Sciences, also effective Dec. 1, 2012.

“Dean Hill has shown remarkable leadership at Tuskegee University, at the regional level with his engagement with the Alabama Agricultural and Land Grant Alliance, the Professional Agricultural Workers Conference, and nationally with the 1890 Council of Deans,” Rochon said.

Hill received his doctorate in agronomy and environmental chemistry from the University of Illinois, master’s degrees from both the University of Arizona and the University of Chicago and his undergraduate degree from Lake Forest College in Illinois. Hill currently serves as director of the George Washington Carver Agricultural Experiment Station and the 1890 Research and Extension Programs at Tuskegee University.

The College of Agriculture, Environment and Nutrition Sciences prepares students for basic and applied animal (pre-veterinarian), biological (pre-health), chemical, environmental, food and nutritional, plant, and natural resource science professions as well as agricultural and resource economics.
