New head of Aerospace Science Engineering Department
M. Javed Khan has been appointed as head of the Aerospace Science Engineering Department effective July 1, 2011. He was most recently a professor in the department. His experience spans the various facets of aerospace engineering including field engineering, research and development, and academia.
Currently, he works on Tuskegee’s curriculum development, laboratory improvement and educational policy committees. During his tenure, he has helped to attract more than $2 million in external funding and has given international visibility to the university. He has further documented his work with scholarly publications and contributions to aerospace engineering.
Khan received his Ph.D. in aerospace engineering from Texas A&M, a M.S. in aeronautical engineering from the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s from the PAF College of Aeronautical Engineering in Pakistan.
He serves on the editorial advisory board of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Journal of Aircraft and has served on its technical committees on applied aerodynamics and atmospheric flight mechanics. Khan is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society in the United Kingdom, the Institution of Engineers in Pakistan and an Associate Fellow of the AIAA.
