Bottoms Wins IBS-REU Summer Internship

Chemistry honors student Ms. Jashaun Bottoms has added another impressive accomplishment to her resume’. Bottoms has already received recognition for her academic accomplishments from the Council of Deans and during an Academic Excellence Awards ceremony geared toward the class of 2016. Recently, Bottoms was one of only 13 students awarded a coveted IBS-REU summer position. The award pays $5,000 and covers housing for participants. Dr. Collier and Ms. Bottoms will develop and implement a novel synthetic route to shikimic acid which has known anti-viral properties..
