The Chemistry Seminar for Wednesday, October 24, 2012, will be presented by Dr. J. V. Ortiz, the Ruth W. Molette Professor and Chairman of the Auburn University Chemistry Department. The presentation is titled “Prediction and Interpretation with Ab Initio Electron Propagator Theory.”

The presentation will be at noon in Armstrong Hall Room 304.

Prior to post-doctoral appointments at Harvard and Cornell Universities, Dr. Ortiz received his Ph.D. from the University of Florida in 1981. Dr. Ortiz has been Chair at Auburn University since 2006. He has held positions in the chemistry departments at Kansas State University and the University of New Mexico.

Among many other accomplishments, Professor Ortiz has published more than 190 papers in scientific journals, has delivered over 160 invited lectures, is among the authors of the widely used Gaussian quantum chemistry packages, is a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Quantum Chemistry, has served on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Chemical Physics and is a consultant to federal agencies and private research organizations.
