Clubs & Organizations
The Department of English sponsors four organizations: the English
Club, Lambda Iota Tau Honor Society, the French Club, and the Spanish Club.
Membership in the English Club is open to any student interested in literature,
theatre, art, music or film. Membership in Lambda Iota Tau Honor Society is
open to junior and senior English majors or minors with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and a GPA of at least 3.0 in literature courses. Membership in the French Club is open to
students enrolled in French classes or students interested in French and
Francophone cultures. Membership in the Spanish Club is open to students
enrolled in Spanish classes or students interested in Hispanic cultures.

Dr. Loretta Burns, who chairs the Department of English, is the
advisor for Beta Tau Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Mu National Honor Society.
Alpha Kappa Mu is a general scholarship organization open to juniors and
seniors in all academic disciplines. To be eligible for membership, a student
must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.3. For more
