Student Outcomes

Graduates from the mathematics program should have:

  • in-depth understanding of the principles of calculus and the skills to use calculus in applications
  • knowledge of mathematical areas such as linear algebra, abstract algebra, differential equations, probability and statistics, modern geometry, real analysis and complex analysis
  • a mastery of the language and symbolism of mathematics
  • the ability to think critically
  • the ability to understand mathematical arguments
  • the ability to construct mathematical proofs
  • the ability to use mathematical models to solve problems
  • the know-how to use technology instruments and software to aid in problem solving
  • an appreciation for mathematics that fosters the urge to become independent thinkers and self-learners
  • the ability to communicate mathematics in both written or oral forms
