On February 1, the Army ROTC and the CVMNAH (Nursing Department) helped to celebrate the achievement of one of America’s pioneering professionals, Della H. Rainey. Rainy became the first black nurse commissioned as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps and the first nurse to become part of the Tuskegee Airmen. This month marks the 112th year of existence of the U.S. Army Nurse Corps. A birthday cake was cut to honor the U.S. Army Nurse Corps. Lt. Col. Patricia A. Coburn, deputy chief nurse for the U.S. Army Cadet Command, served as the guest speaker for the event.

The process of discarding old/unwanted equipment and furniture has started. Two dumpsters have been ordered and will be delivered by Feb. 15. They will be located on the side of Williams-Bowie Hall and near Ward - C. You may also label these items with red tape indicating discarding the item(s). The Tuskegee University Department of English is calling for creative work about Tuskegee. Please submit work as Microsoft Word documents to Dr. Bill Ndi, email@example.com, or Dr. Loretta Burns, L_burns@mytu.tuskegee.edu, by March 1, 2013. Creative works can include: Original poetry, short stories, essays, and one-act plays about Tuskegee University, city of Tuskegee, and/or Macon County for a proposed publication entitled Tuskegee Voices and Visions.
