Golden Tiger Battalion Military Ball


COL (RET) Floyd Griffin was the guest speaker at the Army ROTC Golden Tiger Battalion’s Military Ball, held on April 20, 2012 at the Kellogg Conference Center here on Campus. The theme for the evening was “Officership: Character, Leadership, and Professionalism.” In his speech given to the cadets, cadre and guests, COL (RET) Griffin shared some of the sage wisdom he acquired over his 25 years in uniform where served as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. Some of the topics he spoke on included the importance of always having a great attitude in all endeavors and to constantly hone your skills in order to be prepared for the tasks ahead of you.

COL (RET) Griffin is a former Georgia state senator and the first black mayor of Milledgeville, GA.  He is currently a member of the Tuskegee University Board of Trustees. He is also President and CEO of Slater’s Funeral Home Inc. in Milledgeville, GA.  He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Building Construction from Tuskegee University and a Master’s degree in Contract and Procurement Management from Florida Institute of Technology. He also has an Associate’s degree in Funeral Service from Gupton Jones College.

COL (RET) Griffin was accompanied by his lovely wife, Nathalie.
