Q. Who can apply to the Tuskegee University Plant Genomics & Biotechnology Workshop?

A. 7th – 12th grade teachers are eligible to apply for the workshop.


Q. What subject area must I teach to apply to the Tuskegee University Plant Genomics & Biotechnology Workshop?

A. It is preferred that individuals teaching the subjects areas of biology, molecular biology, genomics, genetics and related areas participate. However, individuals who may teach these subject areas in the near future are encouraged to apply.


Q. Is an extensive background in/knowledge of molecular biology, genomics or biotechnology necessary to apply to the Tuskegee University Plant Genomics & Biotechnology Workshop?

A. An extensive background in or knowledge of molecular biology, genomics, biotechnology or related areas is not necessary to apply to the workshop.

Q. What is the cost of attending the Tuskegee University Plant Genomics & Biotechnology Workshop?

A. Attendance to the 6-day Tuskegee University Plant Genomics & Biotechnology Workshop is FREE. Teachers will receive a stipend of $300 for successful completion of the 6-day workshop.


Q. Where will participants be housed?

A. Participants will be housed (at no cost) in the Tuskegee University Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center on the Campus of Tuskegee University. Meals will be provided to participants during the duration of the workshop.


Q. When will notification of acceptance for participation in the Tuskegee University Plant Genomics & Biotechnology Workshop be provided?

A. Applicants will be notified between late April or early May of their acceptance status, which will include accepted, alternate or denied.


Q. How many teachers will be accepted for the Tuskegee University Plant Genomics & Biotechnology Workshop?

A. Approximately 10 teachers will be selected to participate in the 6-day Tuskegee University Plant Genomics & Biotechnology Workshop.
