The mission of the College of Business and Information Sciences is the pursuit of excellence in instruction, research, and service. The college prepares students for career opportunities in the global economy.  It offers the bachelor of science degree in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, sales & marketing, management science, hospitality management, computer science and computer science-information systems option. In addition to providing a strong foundation in business economics and computer science, the emphasis is on developing the student’s communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.

The college has a strong outreach program through its Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Center, which is funded by the U.S and Alabama Departments of Transportation. It has research strengths in the areas of economic development, foreign direct investment, international trade, business regulation, productivity, business development and problem resolution, strategic development and information technology.

Computer science faculty is involved with research in the areas of high performance computing, network performance, software engineering, Web applications, and information security.
