Alumni club fundraiser awards 10 scholarships


TUSKEGEE, Ala. (April 27, 2011) — The Montgomery-Tuskegee Alumni Club, fondly known as the "mother club," held its annual crimson & gold banquet on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at the Taylor Lakes clubhouse in Montgomery, AL.  Approximately 100 Montgomery area alumni, family, and friends attended the event. 


This year's scholarship fundraiser highlighted the accomplishments of the 10 scholarship recipients that the club is supporting this year.  Cheryl Thomas, senior director of development was the keynote speaker and presented the alumni with valuable information relating to the school's programs and activities.  Club president, Janet Mann, presented awards and certificates to the students and Thomas, and gave a special tribute to A.D. James, Tuskegee University financial aid director. Monies raised at the banquet are sent to Tuskegee University in support of the club's scholarship fund for Montgomery area students, which include the counties of Montgomery, Elmore, Autauga, and Lowndes.
