Annual Christmas concert to start holiday season at university
TUSKEGEE, Alabama (November 27, 2012) — Tuskegee University’s Golden Voices Choir will kick off the holiday season with their annual Christmas concert Dec. 2. It will be held in the University Chapel at 6:30 p.m. CST. The ensemble will perform several Christmas spirituals such as William L. Dawson’s arrangement of “Behold the Star” and popular traditional songs such as “Carol of the Bells.”
The Golden Voices and invited singers from the audience will also sing the “Hallelujah Chorus” from George F. Handel’s “Messiah.” This year, the choir will begin the two-part program with “Gloria,” a classical work by Antonio Vivaldi. There will also be solo selections and performances by the university’s male and female glee clubs. The event is free and open to the public.
“I am excited about our program and our students,” said Wayne A. Barr, director of the Golden Voices. “The audience is in for a good time.”
