Chevron donates $250,000 during T.U.B.E. Conference
TUSKEGEE, Ala. (April 8, 2014) — Representatives from Chevron Corp. presented the university with a donation of $250,000 today. The College of Engineering and the Brimmer School of Business and Information Science will use the funds for scholarships and student programs.
“On behalf of the university, we are very appreciative of this gift,” said Tuskegee University Acting President, Dr. Matthew Jenkins.
The donation was made during the Tuskegee University Business and Engineering (T.U.B.E.) Conference at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center at Tuskegee University. The conference kicked off today and ends Wednesday. The conference is an annual event that brings together the university community with corporate partners and businesspeople. Chevron was the sponsor for the 19th Annual T.U.B.E. Corporate Night Out event, where their donation was presented. The gift was the fourth such donation to the university.
Nicolle Boswell, diversity portfolio manager for Chevron, said the company continues to invest in Tuskegee students because there is a direct link between the programs offered at the university and careers at the company. Boswell also said Tuskegee graduates have a track record of success as Chevron employees and future leaders.
“At Chevron, we develop leaders at every level,” Boswell said. “We feel as though we can build great leaders starting here at the university.”
