Chevron increases commitment to Tuskegee University with $250,000 donation

TUSKEGEE, Ala. (November 12, 2013) — Acting Tuskegee University President Dr. Matthew Jenkins, along with dean of the College of Engineering, Legand Burge, and Roy Nunn, accepted a $250,000 donation from Chevron yesterday after a meeting with company representatives in the president’s conference room.

Chevron has been a supporter of Tuskegee University for several years. They currently employ several Tuskegee University engineering graduates. Based on the outstanding performance of those graduates, Chevron is one of the top recruiters on our campus.

In addition to support of the College of Engineering, Chevron also supports the Andrew F. Brimmer College of Business and Information Science, student support programs and Career Development and Placement Services. During discussions, Chevron indicated the desire not only to continue the relationship, but to make it even better over the next several years.

The donation will be used for engineering scholarships as well as to help fund numerous engineering programs here at the university. The representatives from Chevron were Tawana Hardy and Telisa Toliver. An alumna of the university, Toliver stated, “This is a continuation of the standing support of Tuskegee University and in particular the school of engineering.”
