Homecoming kicks-off with the crowning of “Tuskegee’s Best”
TUSKEGEE, Ala. (October 29, 2013) — Tuskegee University crowned a winner for Sunday’s gospel talent competition, the school’s version of the BET show, “Sundays Best.” Held in Logan Hall, this was the first official event of the university homecoming activities for the 2013-2014 school year.
Hosted by former Mr. Tuskegee, Chris Dickerson, it was a night full of praise and worship. The competition was a tough one, showcasing the vocal talents of seven students. The students were then judged by a panel of three judges and received scores in categories such as crowd participation and originality.
There was an array of musical talents displayed at the event. Participants ranged from those who sung a cappella, to others who had a full band and background singers. While the judges deliberated, last year’s winner, Scotti Michelle Rowser performed.
In the end, it was the competition’s only male contestant who was victorious. Shy’Quon Rudolph, a freshman sales and marketing major from Alabama, was named the winner with his rendition of “Rain on Us” by Earnest Pugh.
