Miss Tuskegee to be featured in Ebony’s ‘Campus Queens’ issue


TUSKEGEE, Ala. (June 28, 2011) — Miss Tuskegee University, Breana Watkins, will be included in the September 2011 HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) Queens issue of Ebony magazine.

Watkins, along with a number of other campus queens, competed in an online voting competition. Voters were able to view the queens’ respective biographies and videos stating why they should be featured in the issue of Ebony. The top 10 winners were chosen for the publication.

Watkins, the 82nd Miss Tuskegee University, is a junior from Huntsville, Ala., majoring in chemical engineering. She is the daughter of Derwin and Tina Watkins.

Other queens chosen were: Neshaszda Brown, Albany State University; De'Jonique Garrison, Clark Atlanta University; Ashley N. Graham, South Carolina State University; Jasmine Gurley, North Carolina A&T State University; Charlena Kennedy, Bethune-Cookman University; Charnee' Pearson-Starling, Bennett College; Tiffany Sorrells, Benedict College; Ashlee Thomas, Howard University; and Desiree Williams, Hampton University.
