Step show and concert highlights for students and alumni
TUSKEGEE, Ala. (November 3, 2013) — This weekend, students and alumni came out in large numbers to support the annual Homecoming Step Show and the SGA/Students’ Concert Friday. Held in Daniel “Chappie” James Arena, this year’s step show was hosted by YouTube sensation Emmanuel Hudson, and featured the talents of seven of the Divine Nine organizations.
The night was full of surprises. The organizations that competed used an array of elaborate props, movie-themed skits, and several even incorporated the use of local youth. A surprise engagement also took place at this year’s show. At the end of the show, alumni, Brett Collier, proposed to his girlfriend, Sonia Alcazar. She accepted and the couple’s special moment was the highlight of the event.
In the end, it was the ladies of Zeta Phi Beta and the men of Phi Beta Sigma who were the victors of the night’s competition. Covering the night in blue and white, this was the Sigmas’ second year in a row taking home the prized trophy.
Night of music
Saturday night, after witnessing the Golden Tigers destroy Central State University, students celebrated at the annual homecoming concert. The event was also held in “Chappie” James arena. The event featured a DJ from HOT 105.7 who kept the crowd thoroughly entertained as they waited for the various artists to perform.
Rappers, Migos, and R&B singer, August Alsina, headlined this year’s concert. Students enjoyed themselves as the artists performed hits such as “Versace” and “I Love it.”
