University welcomes incoming students, OneStop Center opened
TUSKEGEE, Ala. (August 20, 2013) — Hundreds of Golden Tigers, new and old, have arrived on campus in preparation for the official start of the Fall 2013 semester. Among the influx of students are 730 incoming freshmen and 69 transfer students who got to know Tuskegee during eight days of activities. The Linking Academic Success to Engagement and Resilience (LASER) student orientation kicked off Aug. 13 and ends today.
Last week, the new students and their families got information about academic and support services. Also, many were introduced to the latest addition to Tuskegee’s student services. OneStop Central
, an all-inclusive center for student services and information was opened Aug. 13. OneStop is designed to streamline the enrollment/registration, financial aid, billing and payment of fees processes at Tuskegee. It has information on registration, financial aid and academic support services. It is located in the rotunda of Margaret Murray Washington Hall and can be found online at: www.tuskegee.edu/onestop
. The hours of operation are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST daily through September 5. It will re-open for pre-registration in November and again in January for spring 2014 registration.
On Aug. 14, Tuskegee University President Gilbert L. Rochon and academic deans addressed the new students in the university Chapel. During his remarks, Rochon welcomed the students to campus and congratulated them on their hard work. He also encouraged them to take advantage of student support services such as counseling and tutoring to ensure success in their studies.
“As new Golden Tigers, you are just at the beginning of your journey,” he said. “I would advise you to, of course, enjoy this moment but be diligent and committed in seeking an education that will prepare you for a bright future.”
