Delores Shine Kerr -- Miss Tuskegee 1956 - 1957



(October 23, 2013) - Delores Shine Kerr lives in Los Angeles, CA. She married her Tuskegee Institute sweetheart, Ben O. Kerr. They have two kids and one granddaughter.

She is actively involved in the local community. She serves on many Executive Boards ranging from the California Science Center Foundation to the Music Center of Los Angeles Opera League Board. She is active in her church serving in the church choir and the Worship and Music Committee. Her other socially conscious works includes McCarty Conservatory and Friends of W G Still. Her most passionate work for which she sponsors an annual event is African Americans for Los Angeles Opera.

Delores is the Founder and Chairperson for ‘ Mentors for Adult and Youth Worldwide ’ to promote role models for everyone. The organization makes performance grants to local musicians, dancers, artists, actors and inspirational speakers.

She is originally from Tuscaloosa, Alabama and graduated from Tuskegee Institute in Medicine eventually becoming an RN in Los Angeles. She has been a fashion model, a fashion designer of women’s clothing accessories, a dancer, an actress, a dutiful wife, a Mom and a proud Grandma. While doing all of this Delores found time to be a Teacher and a Counselor in local adult schools.
