Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Organic Farming Program is seeking a post-doctoral research associate to join a multi-disciplinary team studying soil, crop, and crop protection in organic farming systems. The goal of the research is to develop site-specific recommendations on vegetable crops for organic growers in the Southeast. We pursue a scientist who is deeply interested in an integrated approach in organic agriculture research and excited about fieldwork and interacting with team members. The successful candidate must:
Establish field, laboratory, and greenhouse experiments, collect data, conduct laboratory analysis (daily laboratory operations, MSDS, ordering supplies, safety, etc.), and develop a tracking system for supplies, equipment log, etc.
Participate in research project design, implementation, data dissimilation, preparation, and publication of manuscripts in peer-reviewed scientific journals, workshops, conferences, etc.
Develop and nurture novel research ideas and concepts that promote current research and possess excellent scientific writing ability
Demonstrate ability to work effectively and collegially with vegetable growers and others; be a team player
Recognize and notify PI of existing and/or potential hindrances to the successful operation of the organic program
Demonstrate familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, EndNote, and SAS

Commensurate with education, training, and experience: Salary is contingent upon outside funding.
