Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Director of Academic and Learning Outcomes Assessment is a member of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, Research, Assessment, and Planning with a focus on learning outcomes assessment. We are seeking highly qualified applicants from diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives to add value to our team.
The Director of Academic and Learning Outcomes Assessment is responsible for supporting the University-wide learning outcomes assessment process for undergraduate and graduate, as well as General Education at Tuskegee University.  The qualified candidate must have the experience and skill set necessary to support faculty engagement in the learning outcomes assessment process. Primary responsibilities of the Director include the following:

  • Develop and maintain a connection with Deans/Department Heads colleges and schools to support assessment of undergraduate programs graduate programs and General Education
  • Work closely with the Associate Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness and faculty on all issues related to academic compliance, perform regular compliance audits, and assist with coordinating accurate and timely reporting
  • Assist with University-wide assessment projects such as the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP)
  • Provide support and direction to University-wide committees for assessment of student learning and curriculum mapping
  • Additional responsibilities may include consulting one-on-one with academic administrators; developing and delivering presentations and workshops; reviewing and providing feedback on program-level learning outcomes assessment plans and reports; and collaborating on the development and implementation of assessment studies.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree required; Doctorate in Higher Education, Educational Psychology, Social Science or related fields preferred
  • Three years of experience in higher education related to Curriculum Mapping and Academic/Learning Outcomes Assessment.
  • Knowledge of research design, survey techniques, statistical modeling, and tools for processing survey data (preferably SPSS)
  • Must have experience with desktop word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software
  • Preference given to candidates with demonstrated experience in curriculum mapping and academic/learning outcomes assessment.
  • Two years teaching experience at the post-secondary level
  • Knowledge and experience with outcomes assessment, institutional program review, and service area review processes
  • Knowledge of regional and specialized postsecondary accreditation standards, practices, and goals
  • Possess an attention to detail, accuracy of work, and ability to meet tight deadlines, strong communication skills, both oral and written, a professional demeanor, a positive attitude, and the ability to keep confidences
