Position: Large Animal Caretaker                                      Location: College of Veterinary Medicine- Veterinary Teaching Hospital                

Status: Full Time; Non-Exempt

Special Qualifications

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize stalls and barns daily
  • Keep feed room swept and cleaned
  • Clean and sanitize water buckets and troughs daily
  • Keep paddock and outside exercise areas clean
  • Assist with feeding and watering animals as needed
  • Unloading and storing feed, hay and bedding in the appropriate areas
  • Providing animals for laboratories as needed
  • Assist with pasture maintenance and upkeep
  • Assist with upkeep and health maintenance of University-owned animals
  • Assist with animal transportation
  • Weekend and holiday work may be required
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the VMTH Director and the Head of the Department of Clinical Sciences in consultation with the hospital director

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with farm animals
  • Ability to operate farm equipment (tractor, bush hog, pressure washer etc.)
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs or more without difficulty
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills           

Salary
Commensurate with education, training and experience
