Position: Licensed Professional Counselor                                        Location: Student Affairs (Wellness Center)  

Status: Full Time 

Special Qualifications

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct client services, including individual and group therapy accompanied by treatment plans (behavioral assessments, counseling and intervention services to help clients dealing with issues such as addiction, trauma, abuse, mental illness, etc)
  • Provide written documentation of counseling sessions, assessments, interventions, and recommendations to meet medical records requirements
  • Maintain familiarity with community resources and procedures for making referrals in compliance with confidentiality requirements so that community resources are used to benefit clients
  • Demonstrate cultural competency and commitment to patients
  • Identify patients with urgent mental health conditions (e.g. suicidal, homicidal, psychotic, etc.) and make appropriate referrals to available emergency or psychiatric treatment facilities
  • Formulate short term and long term counseling plans for patients under care
  • Provide counseling/ talk therapy (emotional, mental, etc.) to scheduled patients utilizing professional counseling standards
  • The LPC must be willing to work some evenings and weekends
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field required
  • Must be licensed as a Professional Counselor
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have great assessment skills
  • Must have the ability to apply substance abuse counseling methods and techniques
  • Must be knowledgeable of crisis intervention techniques
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with little supervision using good problem solving skills and judgement
  • Must have working computer knowledge and experience (Microsoft Office and office equipment)

Salary
 Commensurate with education, training and experience
