Position:  Research Technician (Poultry Unit)                                                                                  Department: CAENS/GWCAES

Status: Full-Time: Exempt

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities

  • Assist faculty and other scientists with all research projects conducted at the poultry unit
  • Provide leadership in the day to day management and maintenance of the poultry unit
  • Ensure that buildings and equipment are ready for conducting research
  • Assist in data collection and analysis of poultry research
  • Assist with teaching poultry science laboratory classes
  • Coordinate and maintenance outdoor facilities and laboratory equipment and supplies for the poultry unit
  • Keep records of all research and inventory of equipment at the poultry unit
  • Perform all other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor degree in Animal or Agricultural Sciences
  • Experience in laboratory procedures
  • Experience in conducting research
  • Ability to communicate orally and to be able to write manuscripts
  • Experience working with animals

Additional Desirable Qualifications

  • Masters degree preferred
  • Computer literate
  • Be able to statistically analyze research data

Commensurate with education, training, and experience: Position contingent upon outside funding

Additional Position Information:

  • This position require weekend and after work hours’ job responsibilities during peak season
  • You will be required to do local and out of state traveling
