Position: Tutorial Coordinator                         Location: Tuskegee-Center for Academic Excellence and Innovative Learning (T-CAEIL)

Status: Full Time

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Tutorial Coordinator will communicate and work closely with the center’s director to efficiently and effectively lead tutoring efforts within T-CAEIL. The Tutorial Coordinator will coordinate, supervise, and evaluate the overall operation and staff of the peer tutoring program; recruit, hire, train, and evaluate tutors; develop learning outcomes and assessments for the tutoring program; develop training materials and deliver tutor training/certifications; work closely with faculty for recruitment; develop programs and activities to promote and publicize services to students; maintain budgets and payroll; create academic support and tutoring programs and services for international students. Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise day-to-day operations of the peer tutoring program activities
  • Maintain database and records of peer tutor’s information: training status, payroll verification, certifications, etc.
  • Provide administrative support for the operations of TCAEIL
  • Act as an important point of contact for internal and external constituents of TCAEIL
  • Oversee peer tutors
  • Participate in ongoing efforts to identify, recruit, interview, select and train peer tutors
  • Provide administrative support for the preparation of reports, communications, and TCAEIL events
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Center’s director

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree; Masters preferred
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience working in a learning center in higher education
  • Experience in coordinating, developing, planning, and monitoring all aspects of a tutorial program
  • Must be able to function independently while operating within a team environment
  • Must be detail oriented and possess strong organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information
  • Knowledgeable of structure, content, and pedagogy for various college-level disciplines
  • Must have working computer knowledge and experience with various office equipment, word processing, spreadsheets and databases
  • Excellent oral and written skills and the ability to communicate comfortably and effectively with students, staff, and faculty from diverse backgrounds in a collaborative, courteous, and supportive manner
  • Demonstrated innovative and creative contributions in developing services and tutorial strategies that best meet the needs of students
  • Must be able to prioritize, work independently and meet deadlines
  • Travel required, physical demands, busy work environment, on-call schedule
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends
  • Must be a team player

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit for an extended period of time, stand, reach above and below, walk without assistance, and lift up to 25 pounds without assistance
