Tuskegee University is proud to announce that Dr. Olga Bolden-Tiller, Dean of the College of Agriculture, Environment and Nutrition Sciences (CAENS), has received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program award in International Education and will represent the university as part of the inaugural Fulbright HBCU International Education Administrators seminar.
The inaugural Fulbright HBCU International Education Administrators (IEA) seminar, which will be held in Paris, France and Senegal, is to help participants increase international education, gain cross-cultural perspectives, and collaborate with colleagues and students worldwide.
“Tuskegee University solves the world's most complex problem and has been doing so for quite some time. We do this through superb academic leaders, research opportunities and expanding academic pursuits such as this,” said Dr. Mark A. Brown, President and CEO. “I commend Dr. Bolden-Tiller, a superb academic leader, for this recognition. She continues to prove an outstanding example for our students and other faculty in her work to advance Tuskegee University and our mission.”
The HBCU IEA Seminar is the latest addition to a series of Fulbright exchanges that give U.S. international education professionals and senior higher education officials the chance to learn about different education systems and expand professional networks.
“It is my continued privilege to represent Tuskegee globally in this way,” said Dr. Bolden-Tiller. “I am honored to be acknowledged by the Fulbright team in such a distinguished way. I have traveled the world to bring these kinds of relationships and programs to Tuskegee and it gives me great pleasure to be able to represent our university through this collaboration.”
Fulbright U.S. Scholars are faculty, researchers, administrators, and established professionals teaching or conducting research affiliated with institutes abroad. Fulbright Scholars engage in cutting-edge research and expand their professional networks, often continuing research collaborations started abroad and laying the groundwork for future partnerships between institutions. They share their stories upon returning to their home countries, institutions, labs, and classrooms. They often become active supporters of international exchange, inviting foreign scholars to campus and encouraging colleagues and students to go abroad.
Over 800 individuals annually teach or conduct research abroad through the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program. In addition, over 2,000 Fulbright U.S. Student Program participants—recent college graduates, graduate students, and early career professionals—participate in study/research exchanges or as English teaching assistants in local schools abroad annually.
“Dean Bolden-Tiller’s participation as part of the first Fulbright International Education Cohort dedicated to HBCUs creates additional exposure for our students while highlighting our global brand,” said Dr. Rhonda Collier, Fulbright Program Liaison Tuskegee University and Director of Tuskegee University Global Office. “This is a very prestigious honor and will move us forward toward our institutional goals as we enhance academic excellence and recruit more international students for TU.”
In the United States, the Institute of International Education implements the Fulbright U.S. Student and U.S. Scholar Programs on behalf of the U.S. Department of State. For more information about the Fulbright Program, visit https://fulbrightprogram.org.
