The Tuskegee University Global Center for Postharvest Research and Training, in conjunction with the Postharvest Education Foundation (PEF) and World Food Logistics Organization (WFLO) will be hosting a 1-week “Small-scale Postharvest Handling Technologies of Horticultural Crops Short Course & Study Tour” June 19-23, 2017, at Tuskegee University.
Discussion topics encompass storage environments (temperature, humidity etc), harvest practices, maturity and quality, marketing strategies for small scale horticultural farmers; workshop activities will include construction of a zero energy control cooler, maintaining and managing a small-scale mobile coolbot trailer as well as simple solar dryers to add produce value.
The workshop is free of cost and up to 20 small-scale farmers will be partially reimbursed hotel expenses. Attached is the announcement flyer which has contact information as well as a registration form
