The toxicology laboratory has the capability to offer analytical service to the clinics for cases of poisoning from strychnine, warfarin, nitrates and nitrites, organophosphates (ChE assay), cyanide, heavy metals (lead, mercury, arsenic, copper and zinc), aflatoxins and certain drugs such as salicylates, ammonia and urea. Samples of water, feed, forage, soil, blood, urine and animal tissue to be analyzed for pesticides (including chlorinated hydrocarbons) are submitted to the nearby Alabama State Toxicology Laboratory for analysis.
