The mission of the Wellness Center is to help students achieve their personal and academic goals, to understand themselves and others, and ultimately to lead more satisfying and healthy lives. We welcome and work with students of all backgrounds by providing individual and group counseling sessions and wellness/prevention outreach to the University community.
The primary function of the University Wellness Center is to provide individual and group counseling to students who may be experiencing difficulty with personal and social issues, academics, stress management, test anxiety, grief, relationships, sexuality, family concerns.
The Tuskegee University Wellness Center is located next to Kresge Center. Services are offered from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Telephone number: (334) 727-8244. Appointments are encouraged, but not a necessity. For emergencies on Campus dial extension 4911.
Students must come in person to complete the necessary forms and information. All Counseling Sessions are private and confidential.

Individual counseling helps you to clarify your concerns, gain insight into yourself and others, and learn ways to most effectively cope and/or resolve problems. Below are some of the common issues that a college student may address in individual counseling:
There are opportunities for Tuskegee students to participate in group counseling/support groups. These group sessions are generally held on Mondays from 4-5 pm. Please call contact the Wellness Center for information about the location of the group meetings. Groups generally include 5-10 students who meet for weekly discussions, led and facilitated by a Student Wellness Center staff member. Groups are formed based on both the expertise of staff members and the current needs of students, and include the following issues to be addressed:
Outreach Program Request Forms are available at the Wellness Center. Kindly submit them 2-3 weeks in advance for review, availability and approval.
In line with our University's mission, the 504 Accommodations Program is in place to provide and/or help students acquire the necessary resources and accommodations needed (as verified through proper documentation) to help them become the most effective professionals and leaders of society.
The ADA 504 Accommodations Counselor's purpose is to serve as a liaison between the student and faculty member to ensure that students with disabilities are afforded equal opportunities to demonstrate their academic skills and potential through reasonable and beneficial accommodations.
1. Students must first meet the admissions requirements of Tuskegee University and be registered the semester they request services.
2. Students must self-report to the Counseling Center and see the ADA 504 Accommodations Counselor to fill out an intake form.
3. Students must provide documentation of their disability that is no more than three (3) years old. The documentation should include; how you learn, suggested accommodations and fundamental impacts.
4. The documentation verifying your disability should be from a psychologist, psychometrist, medical doctor, etc. (a qualified professional).

If you have nervous problems such as tension, depression, fears, fatigue, etc. and/or various physical complaints for which your family medical doctor finds no physical basis; if you have a school, sex, or marital related problem; or if you merely feel irritable, unhappy, and/or believe that you are not getting the most out of life, counseling will be of help to you. The Veterans Affairs office serves as liaison between Veteran students enrolled at Tuskegee University and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Counseling and support services are provided to address unique characteristic needs and problems of veteran students, dependents and National Guard/Reserve members.
