Tuskegee University is hosting a variety of events on campus this weekend and there are a few things to keep in mind to navigate the expected crowds.
Students should remember to keep their IDs with them as they are moving from across campus to activities at Logan Hall or for the scrimmage football game at Abbott Field, the baseball game or the tennis matches.
General Access
Traffic will be heavy on Montgomery Road Saturday, so the Tuskegee University Police Department has outlined a few tips:
- For activities at Logan Hall or the football field, the Logan Hall Gate will be the main entrance – for pedestrians and cars.
- The Armstrong Gate will serve as an exit for vehicles at those events.
Parking
In addition to the athletic events, there is a Wipe Out Cervical Cancer event in Logan Hall, which is expecting several buses of attendees, and an Admissions high school “Skegee Day” recruitment event, where schools from four neighboring counties have been invited.
- Buses for those events will be directed to park in the lot behind the Public Safety Building and the lot at The Oaks.
- Visitor parking will be in designated areas around Logan Hall and The Oaks.
- Parking on campus roadways, sidewalks and emergency zones is prohibited. Violators will be towed.
Lunch
- Barbecue lunch for Tuskegee students with meal plans will be served on the Tompkins Hall Lawn.
- Invited high school students will be provided a lunch ticket and meals on Logan Hall Lawn. Others will be able to purchase meals.
- The cafeteria will be closed on Saturday for lunch.
Everyone is reminded of the new protocol for large events. Metal detectors and wands will be used for all locations. Clear bags are required. All safety policies and protocols will be strictly enforced. Visitors will need to get a pass from the Visitor’s Center.
