TUSKEGEE, Ala. — Tuskegee University emerged victorious in the first-ever Brown vs. Brown Showdown fundraising challenge at the Red Tails Classic, surpassing expectations and setting a powerful example of alumni and donor engagement.
In just 24 hours, 252 donors contributed an astounding $128,591, crushing the original $25,000 goal more than fivefold. Tuskegee received a transformative anonymous gift of $100,000 in the final hour of the challenge.
“This victory belongs to our alumni, donors, and supporters who rallied together to show the world the unstoppable force of Golden Tiger pride,” said Dr. Mark A. Brown ’86, President and CEO of Tuskegee University. “Your generosity ensures that Tuskegee continues solving the world’s most complex problems while fueling opportunities for our students.”
Contributions from the challenge support scholarships for Tuskegee’s student-athletes and strengthen the Tuskegee Experience—providing transformative resources for academic achievement, leadership development, and athletic excellence.
The Brown vs. Brown Showdown pitted Tuskegee University against Winston-Salem State University in a friendly 24-hour competition. The event took place in connection with the Red Tails Classic in Montgomery, Alabama, honoring the Tuskegee Airmen legacy while showcasing HBCU spirit and philanthropy.
Tuskegee’s victory not only represents a fundraising milestone but also demonstrates the power of alumni unity in advancing the university’s Renaissance vision and mission to continue solving the world's most complex problems.
