TU Homecoming 2025 Convocation speaker, alumnus Richard T. JonesTuskegee University celebrated its 101st homecoming season on Sunday, capping off a week of events attended by thousands of alumni, students, faculty, staff and members of the Tuskegee community.
 
Tuskegee defeated Lane College in an 18-13 victory on Saturday afternoon inside Abbott Memorial Alumni Stadium on the newly named Comegy/Slater Field.
 
“This was an exceptional week, and I commend the team for coordinating a safe and memorable experience for students and alumni,” said Dr. Mark A. Brown, President and CEO. “I was excited to host alumni from around the country, see our team win the football game and confer an honorary doctorate on Alabama Senator Katie Britt, who has supported our aviation degree program from the start.”
 
Alabama Power check presentation during Homecoming eventThe week started with a prayer service organized by students on Sunday at the Monument. The Kappa Alpha Phi Fraternity Inc. won the step show competition on Tuesday, then Wednesday, students enjoyed a concert featuring rising hip-hop stars Bunna B, Boosie and YK Neice.
 
In addition to Mr. and Miss Tuskegee University being crowned on Thursday, hundreds of students were presented as part of the coronation representing students organizations on campus.
 
Hip-hop icon, Doug E Fresh joined the celebration on Friday with an outdoor showcase where alumni, students, faculty and staff enjoyed the legendary Human Beatbox. To honor its most generous donors, the university hosted a private concert with jazz legend Najee. The morning of gameday, bands, floats, dance troops and more joined the parade through downtown led by Grand Marshal, actor, writer, director and alumnus Richard T. Jones. He also served as the keynote speaker of the Homecoming Convocation on Sunday in the Tuskegee University Chapel.
 
TU President Dr. Mark Brown, Senator Katie Britt and Board Chair Norma ClaytonDuring Convocation, Tuskegee University presented an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree to Alabama U.S. Senator Katie Britt in recognition of her support and partnership, including her leadership in securing a $6.7 million federal investment in Tuskegee’s aviation science program and ensuring Tuskegee’s 1890 land grant status. 
 
Alumni from reunion classes of 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015 and 2020 presented donations to the university totaling $169,413.64 during the convocation ceremony.
 
For those attending events during the weekend, the university provided complimentary bus shuttle service, increasing safe access, and eliminating the strain of limited parking near the campus.
 
“We enjoyed having generations of the Tuskegee family come home to Mother Tuskegee to join us in honoring our past and investing in our future,” said Dr. Brown. “This Renaissance Era has officially started, and we are excited about what’s to come.”
