Inside a newly branded dining hall – the 1881 Heritage Table – Tuskegee University students are being introduced to more and better-tasting menu items while being surrounded by large, branded images that capture the legacy and the current university experience.
The partnership with Sodexo-Magic is one with a student focus. From the thoughtfulness of the venue names like Red Tails Landing for the CC Store, or Booker Tea & Bean for coffee or the ‘Skegee Grill, each embrace our legacy across campus while providing the menu items and experience students requested.
Tuesday, the 1881 Heritage Table opened with a ribbon cutting and program formally introducing the students to the Sodexo-Magic work.
“Thank you, Sodexo-Magic and our students, for their input about food service and the importance of what’s happening here on a day-to-day basis,” said Dr. Mark A. Brown, President and CEO. “We’ll keep looking at ourselves and keep meeting the needs all the time. Welcome to your 1881 Heritage Table.”
SodexoMagic, the joint venture between Magic Johnson Enterprises and Sodexo Inc., announced the partnership with Tuskegee University earlier this summer. SodexoMagic President Charles Johnson is a proud 1997 graduate of Tuskegee. Earlier this summer he said this partnership was more than a professional milestone, but a return to his roots.
“Coming home to my alma mater with a mission to enrich student life, invest in the community, and reimagine the campus dining is an extraordinary honor,” he said. “Together with Tuskegee University’s leadership, we’re building purposeful partnerships and opening doors that will empower students and the Golden Tiger community at large.”
