Tuskegee University is proud to announce the installation of the Rev. Dr. Cecil Andrew Duffie as the Dean of the Tuskegee University Chapel at 10 a.m. on April 18. The installation will welcome a distinguished gathering of faith, civic and academic leaders who will travel to Tuskegee to celebrate this historic occasion.
Rev. Dr. Duffie, who began his tenure last summer, has already made a meaningful spiritual impact on the campus community.
“Immediately upon his arrival, Rev. Duffie brought a reverence to the campus that engaged our students,” said Dr. Mark A. Brown, President and CEO. “From the Tuesday night prayer services to Sunday morning chapel, and especially meeting students where they are in virtual spaces, he is shepherding a transformation of the spiritual community in the Renaissance Era of Mother Tuskegee. It gives me joy to see them worshiping in the chapel in growing numbers every week and their social media presence expands the conversation student to student.”
Prior to joining Tuskegee, Dr. Duffie served as the Dean of the Julius S. Scott Sr. Chapel of Wiley University. An ordained Baptist minister, Dean Duffie earned a doctorate, a master’s of divinity and a certificate of executive leadership from Howard University. He also received a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunication from the University of Florida.
“I am profoundly honored to serve Mother Tuskegee with Dr. Brown. I look forward to carrying the enduring legacy of the chapel with deep reverence, and an unwavering commitment to its traditions, growth, and innovation.”
The installation will bring together clergy, members of the academy and the broader community for a celebration of worship and leadership. Music will be rendered by the renown Tuskegee University Golden Voices under the direction of Dr. Wayne Barr.
Distinguished guests and officiants will include the Rev. Dr. Neichelle Guidry, dean of Sisters Chapel of Spelman College, and the Rev. Dr. Bernard L. Richardson, dean of the Andrew Rankin Chapel of Howard University. Participating clergy will also include the Rev. Dr. Charles Goodman of Tabernacle Baptist Church and the Rev. Dr. Allison Henderson Brooks of Hill First Baptist Church.
The Rev. Dr. Antoine Hutchins, Senior Pastor of Christian Unity Baptist Church in Waldorf, Maryland, and mentor to Dean Duffie, will deliver the installation message. Former living deans of the chapel the Rev. Dr. Edward Wheeler, and the Rev. Dr. Gregory Gray will also participate in the ceremony.
The service, open to all, will be followed by a reception. RSVP here: https://bit.ly/tuinstallscad and support the Souvenir Journal: bit.ly/tuinstallscadsj.
